Ashlee Ruggels is a freelance visual journalist and recent graduate of a Master’s diploma in Journalism (War and International Human Rights).
Her work has appeared in The Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Belfast Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, and more.
She has experience in reporting and photojournalism, as well as breaking news reporting, features, and investigative reporting. Ashlee is passionate about ethical photo storytelling that brings the audience closer to the story with compassion and factual reporting.
In addition to her recent studies, Ashlee is HEFAT certified and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and International Studies from the University of Oregon.
Ashlee loves traveling and adventure. In 2020, She built a camper van from scratch and traveled 30,000 miles across the United States for a year with her rescue dog Bear. She visited over 30 states, spoke with hundreds of strangers, and slept both in parking lots and under the stars.
She is now based in Chicago, IL, and is willing to travel anywhere for work.
